Sustainability management and independent recognition

Welcome to Travelife

Travelife is an international sustainability programme for tour operators and other travel companies. It supports companies in systematically integrating sustainability into their business operations and supply chain through training, practical management tools, sustainability criteria and independent assessment.

Tourism companies have both direct impacts through their own operations and wider influence through the choices they make and the partners they work with. Travelife helps companies identify relevant environmental, social and economic issues, set priorities, implement concrete measures and work with suppliers and destinations towards continuous improvement.

What does the Travelife logo mean? When you see a Travelife logo, it means that the tourism company has been independently assessed against the Travelife sustainability criteria. The logo shows that the company participates in a structured sustainability programme and has implemented measures and practices to systematically address environmental, social and economic aspects within its operations and to work towards continuous improvement.

From commitment to certification

Travelife provides a practical step-by-step approach that enables companies to develop their sustainability management and progressively implement the Travelife requirements.

Companies start in the Travelife Engaged preparatory phase, with access to the Travelife training, tools and online platform. Once the applicable requirements have been implemented, companies can progress towards two independently assessed recognition levels:

Entry recognition level Travelife Partner

Travelife Partner

Recognition based on an independent assessment against the Travelife Partner criteria.

Implementation tools and personal support

Travelife provides an integrated set of tools to help companies put sustainability into practice. These include:

  • Sustainability training and professional development
  • A structured sustainability management system
  • Action planning, monitoring and reporting tools
  • Practical guidance and implementation support
  • Tools for working with accommodation providers and other suppliers
  • Destination sustainability information
  • Independent assessment and certification

These tools are designed specifically for the travel sector and can be applied by companies of different sizes and business models.

In addition to these tools, Travelife members are supported by a dedicated Travelife coach who guides them through the preparation and implementation process, helps them understand the requirements and use the available tools, and prepares them for independent assessment. Wherever possible, this support is provided in the company’s preferred language.

Independent recognition you can communicate

As expectations and regulatory requirements for reliable sustainability information increase, independent assessment is becoming increasingly important for companies wishing to communicate their sustainability efforts and achievements.

Travelife Partner and Travelife Certified provide an independently assessed basis for credible sustainability communication. Recognised companies can communicate their Travelife status and related sustainability efforts and achievements, supported by established criteria and independent assessment.

Travelife also provides communication guidelines to help recognized companies communicate clearly, accurately and transparently and in line with applicable requirements.
