Working together across the travel sector

Our network and partners

Travelife has a long history of cooperation with national, regional and international travel associations. The programme itself was established in 2007 with the involvement of the UK travel association ABTA and the Dutch travel association ANVR.

Since then, Travelife has worked with travel associations in Europe and other regions to introduce common sustainability approaches, provide training and support their members in implementing sustainability practices.

Cooperation with travel associations helps Travelife remain closely connected to developments and practical needs within the sector. It also enables companies within the same market to work with common sustainability criteria and approaches, supporting greater consistency and reducing duplication for companies and their suppliers.

Travelife provides associations with dedicated tools to support, monitor and benchmark the sustainability progress of their participating members. This can include association-specific reporting and monitoring, training and implementation support.

Travelife has established cooperation agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with more than 30 travel associations worldwide.

Regional and implementation partners

Travelife works with regional and local organisations that contribute knowledge of their markets, languages and tourism sectors.

These partners can support the introduction and implementation of Travelife in their regions through training, capacity building, engagement with tourism businesses and suppliers, and cooperation with destinations and other local stakeholders.

This regional network complements Travelife's central programme and helps make a global system practically accessible to companies operating in very different tourism markets.

Knowledge and strategic partners

Travelife also cooperates with sustainability organisations, universities, experts, development organisations and other specialist partners.

These partnerships contribute expertise on specific sustainability topics, support the development and review of criteria, training and guidance, and enable cooperation on initiatives addressing wider sustainability challenges within tourism.

Travelife has from its foundation combined travel-sector experience with specialist sustainability knowledge. This remains an important principle in the continued development of the programme.

Interested in partnering with Travelife?

Travelife welcomes cooperation with organisations that can contribute to the implementation and further development of sustainability practices within the travel sector.

Partnerships can take different forms depending on the organisation and region, including industry cooperation, training and capacity building, technical expertise, destination initiatives and implementation support.
